Frequently asked questions

1. What events do you paint?

I offer live painting for weddings, quinceañeras, receptions, corporate events, special celebrations, parties, fundraisers etc. We’ll work together beforehand to pick the moments or scene you most want captured.

2. How much does it cost?

Different packages and add-ons will change the final cost of having a live wedding painter. In general, full-color oil painting packages cost $2000 base price, while other mediums and monochromatic (limited color) oil paintings start at $1000. Tax is not included in these prices and would be added at the end.

3. What medium/materials do you use?

My specialty is oil painting, which is exciting because most live event painters paint in acrylic or watercolor. Oil paint is a more valuable medium because of it's durability, steadfastness, and historical significance. Depending on the package, you will receive your oil painting on stretched linen canvas or canvas boards.

4. Do you travel?

Yes! Additional travel fees may be required, but if your destination is especially unique or desirable, you may be able to get a discounted travel fee. See my bucket list (question number 5) for more details.

5. Do you have any discounts?

Any bookings for the remaining dates in 2026 will receive a 25% discount on their total purchase, including travel. Travel fees may also be discounted or waived if your wedding is at one of my bucket list places: Iceland, Italy, the UK/Scotland, Denmark, the Netherlands, and more. If your destination is not listed here, just ask!

6. What do you need from the venue?

I will bring my own tables and chairs as pictured on my website, but if you want me to match certain decor at the venue then that will need to be provided. I usually use one small table, one higher stool, and one chair. Additionally, I will need a 4x4 foot space in which to set up (preferably not near the DJ/speakers so that I can hear guests chatting with me), and I will provide protection for the floorspace. These details must be finalized within two weeks of your event.

7. When will I get the finished piece(s)?

Full color oil paintings take about a month to dry--at which time I will seal the paint with varnish to make the colors shine. You should expect your painting to be done within 6 weeks, with shipping taking an additional 2 weeks. If you are booking a monochromatic oil painting or watercolor/ink guest portraits package, those paintings will be ready to take home at the end of the event.

8. What if the weather / lighting / venue conditions are not ideal?

Don't worry, I've got a plan for that! For outdoor events, I make sure to bring umbrellas, temperature control, and my own lighting, while for indoor events I will check out the space and plan for any contingencies. If for any reason I am not able to deliver, I will finish the painting in-studio and make sure that you receive as close to what you asked for as possible.

9. Do you have insurance?

Yes, I have liability insurance which will help in case of damage to the venue or guests. I don't expect anything to happen, but you can never be too safe.

10. How far in advance should I book?

Honestly, if you are interested in booking, I would just ask! We have multiple artists who can help so even if one of us is booked up, we can offer other styles and services to you. I would, however, recommend booking at least two weeks before your event date, and no earlier that two years beforehand.

11. What if we need to cancel or reschedule?

In case of cancellation, the $500 non-refundable deposit may be credited towards another painting or service with Studio Norwic. If you need to change the date of your event, we will be as accommodating as possible, provided our artists are available. Additionally, any travel that has already been paid for may not transfer over. See the contract for more details.

12. How do I book with you?

First, fill out my inquiry / contact form with date, location, style preferences, etc. We’ll have a 1 hour consultation to go over what moment(s) you want to capture, style, canvas size, etc. Then you sign a contract and pay a $500 deposit. Closer to the event we confirm details (venue layout, lighting, any special requests). On the day of, I arrive early, paint, interact with guests, and after the event I finalize and deliver the painting.
